Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) is committed to Uruguay and its development. We have a strong presence in the country, as well as solid knowledge of the domestic market and a strong international network.
We are one of the country’s leading exporters of grains and oilseeds. We commercialize oilseeds, grains, fertilizers & inputs, agrochemicals, seeds and work to enhance the entire value chain. Our market share in seeds and fertilizers & inputs has grown rapidly due to the quality of our products, our excellent service and sales network as well as our genuine understanding of the needs of Uruguayan producers.
The main scope of LDC in Montevideo is merchandizing, execution and logistics. We also offer accounting and administrative services from our Global Service Hub located in an economic free zone. The central service hub provides an integral solution to other companies in the Group, and accounts for more than 50 employees who handle the following commodities: grains, oilseeds, meals, biodiesel, vegetable oils, sugar and cotton. The team manages origination from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, the United States and Canada.
LDC Uruguay is present throughout the country. We have commercial offices located in Paysandú, Río Negro, Nueva Palmira, Durazno and Montevideo, and we have developed strategic alliances with third-party plants in all agricultural areas of the country, providing us with a static capacity of 199 000 tonnes of grains and oilseeds nationwide. We are also present in Uruguay’s main ports for a more efficient delivery of our goods to destinations around the world. Our presence allows us to be closer to our clients and offer commercial and logistical solutions.
All of our assets comply with environmental and safety requirements demanded by the relevant competent organizations. Our products meet all the international quality standards required by our customers.
Our Group’s success is attributed mainly to our sophisticated risk management process, which allows us to manage the risks inherent in complex supply chains that operate from field to end consumer. The risks we manage include logistical, operational, country, financial and commodity price and we seek to mitigate them for optimal outcome. Our ability to manage risk has been strengthened by our investment in processing plants and logistics infrastructure and by working in close partnership with producers around the world.
