Our Evolution Through the Years

Following its creation in 1997, LDC India was primarily involved in conducting crop surveys and market research for oilseeds, edible oils, grains and sugar in the local market. To enhance our knowledge of the market and to support our research activities, we ventured into futures trading, gradually moving into physical trading of wheat, rice, sugar and oilseeds, before adding coffee and cotton to our trading platforms.

In 2007, LDC India was formally recognized by the government of India as an "Export House", which was later elevated to "Star Trading House".

The following year, we acquired an oil refinery in Kandla, our first asset acquisition in the country. We expanded our asset portfolio in 2011 with the construction of a greenfield, state-of-the art oil refinery in Krishnapatnam, and a coffee processing mill in Kushalnagar followed a year later.

Today, LDC India is well-regarded as a leading company in the country’s agricultural sector, anchored by sound, reliable and ethical business practices. We are present in 15 locations across 11 states in India with a significant market presence in cotton, grains, oilseeds and coffee. India is also home to a shared service center, which provides finance and operational support to LDC offices around the world.

As part of our commitment to support the development of local communities, LDC regularly makes donations, organizes charitable activities and offers employees volunteering opportunities. The local team often supports causes related to public health and sanitation, education, the environment and rural infrastructure.
