Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) creates sustainable growth in Indonesia through its long-term relationships, strong local network, regional expertise, and joint venture partnerships. Since 2001, we have more than quadrupled the number of people we directly employ in Indonesia and generated thousands of indirect jobs throughout the country. Our financial investment in the country continues to grow as we expand and build new assets.
In Indonesia, we produce, originate, process, and deliver the raw material inputs that are at the heart of the modern agro-industrial system.
LDC Indonesia is present throughout the country, represented in its six strategically-located assets.

We recognize that our activities at all stages of the value chain may have an impact on the environment and on the people who work for us or live near our facilities. As a responsible global citizen, we seek to minimize any negative impact of our operational footprint through sustainable practices in our businesses and industrial operations.
With our farmers, customers and peers, we are building sustainable practices into our industry in Indonesia. We work hard to disclose consistent information about our sustainability programs to nurture the understanding of our challenges and performance, and to demonstrate the progress we are making.
Indonesia is one of the world’s largest coffee producing countries in the world. The Group locates its processing plants and facilities close to strategic points of origin, facilitating easy market accessibility, and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our performance.
LDC is a member of 4C Services GmbH – a global assurance service provider which envisions "a coffee sector that places integrity at the center of its efforts to improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of coffee production and processing."
4C Services GmbH sets, maintains and operates the “4C Code of Conduct,” an entry-level standard that defines a global common baseline and starts all coffee supply chain actors on the path to the sustainable production, processing, and trade of coffee. It is a concept that Louis Dreyfus Company abides by to help coffee farmers and producers engage in better agricultural practices. This results in efficiency and productivity, and higher economic returns in the long run.
All LDC’s green coffee meets the international standards of 4C Services GmbH.
Indonesia is one of the largest exporters and producers of palm oil. Our palm oil processing and logistic assets are located in Kalimantan and Sumatra, Indonesia. We manage and operate our assets down the value chain; including the origination, storage, processing and merchandizing.
We comply with international sustainability standards via the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) – a non-governmental organization formed by palm oil producers, end users and other non-governmental organizations to promote the production of sustainable palm oil. We established internal principles anchored in the RSPO, including the successful RSPO certification of our two combined refining / logistic facilities in Indonesia – at Lampung and Balikpapan.
Our palm oil operations and value chain are also in compliance with the requirements of RED (Renewable Energy Directive) and the certification system ISCC EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification).
We have developed and adopted a set of principles to guide all our palm oil related business activities going forward.
Meeting the challenge of providing for a growing population.

LDC operates 8 different business lines worldwide. We call these business lines our Platforms. In Indonesia we are active in three of them, and are a leader in originating and exporting several commodities.
Engaging actively across more than 10 major trade flows.
107 000
The Lampung ISAB Bulking and Port’s storage capacity is equivalent to 107 000 tons.
LDC Indonesia is committed to reducing our impact on the environment and improving the quality of life in all the communities where we operate.
We work hard to protect human and labor rights and invest in training and employee development programs.
Group-Wide Safety Day
As part of our investment in training employees on key issues and embedding best practices, every year we hold a Group-wide Safety Day involving all employees at every site. We set goals on this day for the rest of the year to maintain high standards in safety. We do so by increasing personal safety targets in all areas, minimizing the occurrence of serious accidents in the workplace. Every activity on Safety Day is used to reinforce the 10 health and safety principles we have established across the Group and expect employees to incorporate into their behavior.
Through our various activities established along the value chain, we have built close relationships with our local communities. As such, we are committed to their sustained well being.
Lampung Refinery Walkway
LDC built a clean and solid concrete walkway at the back of the Lampung Refinery to provide safe accessibility for the community through the vicinity. The walkway shares access between LDC and PT Semen Batu Raja.
Way Laga Village Public Facilities
The rural communities at Kampung Jambu LK 2 enjoy the public facilities built by Louis Dreyfus Company in the Way Laga Village, Panjang District, Bandar Lampung.
Environmental stewardship is core to our business model and informs the choices we make. We work hard to achieve continual improvement in all areas in which we operate.
Wastewater Treatment
Treatment of the wastewater at our Balikpapan plant increases the supply of potable water to the plant. The process helps reduce water consumption at both the waste treatment and wastewater treatment plants. It involves treating the rainwater and seawater, which in turn goes through a desalination process. The treatment of the wastewater is conducted on-site at the effluent plant.
Planting Mangroves
Our “Planting Mangroves” program in Dermaga Kencana Indonesia Balikpapan, East Kalimantan and Dusun Suka Indah Panjang, Lampung, aims to help reduce environmental impact. Mangroves preserve water quality and reduce pollution by filtering suspended material and assimilating dissolved nutrients.
Friday Cleaning Day
Our employees, together with the local people around our refinery area in Lampung, come together on a regular basis to clean up the environment and the community.
Dedicated to improving the quality of life in our communities.
